Officers of the Liberia National Police (LNP) on Saturday, June 7, arrested Jangar Kowo, Chairman of the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), along with another supporter near the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC) Headquarters on UN Drive. The two were reportedly protesting the detention of former House Speaker Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa and three other sitting lawmakers.
Their arrests follow the controversial remanding of Koffa, along with Representatives Dixon Seboe, Abu Kamara, and Jacob Debee II, to the Monrovia Central Prison. The lawmakers face multiple charges, including arson, attempted murder, and conspiracy, stemming from the December 2024 Capitol Building fire.
