Monrovia, Liberia — Samuel P. Jackson has been formally charged by the Liberia National Police in connection with the death of Toni Khumalo, a South African national, authorities confirmed. The charges include manslaughter, negligent homicide, aggravated assault, and reckless endangerment.
Police said Khumalo was found in a secured residence in Monrovia with severe injuries, including head trauma and contusions to the chest. Investigators reported that the victim had previously experienced violence and had a known medical condition that required supervision.
“The accused remains presumed innocent until proven guilty,” the Liberia National Police emphasized, noting that the investigation was conducted in line with national laws and international standards. Forensic and medical analyses are ongoing, with autopsy and toxicology results expected in the coming weeks.
The case has drawn attention to concerns around domestic violence and the duty of care within private households. Authorities urged the public to allow the judicial process to take its course.
The LNP extended condolences to Khumalo’s family and the Government of South Africa, highlighting that the matter is being handled with transparency and professionalism.
