ANKARA — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin have jointly called for an immediate end to the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, emphasizing that diplomacy must prevail over military confrontation.
In a phone call held over the weekend, the two leaders expressed concern over the growing regional instability sparked by days of missile exchanges and military strikes between the two nations. They stressed the urgent need to de-escalate tensions and reopen diplomatic channels.

President Erdogan reiterated Turkey’s readiness to mediate, advocating for a return to negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program and broader regional security issues. Putin echoed similar sentiments in separate conversations with Israeli and Iranian leaders, calling for dialogue and a peaceful resolution.
Their remarks come amid rising global alarm as the Israel–Iran conflict intensifies, with civilian casualties mounting and fears of a broader regional war increasing. The joint push from Ankara and Moscow adds to a chorus of international voices urging both sides to step back from the brink and commit to diplomatic engagement.
