Algeria1 Celebration Turns Chaotic: Barrier Collapse Kills One at Algerian Football Match

Reports are emerging of a crowd surge and barrier collapse in the stands of Stade du 5 Juillet in Algiers during Mouloudia Club d’Alger’s (MCA) celebration of their national league title. However, the exact number of casualties remains unverified.

Some media outlets, including local and international platforms, claim that the collapse led to multiple fatalities—some citing as many as three deaths and dozens of injuries. These accounts suggest that hospital sources have been treating fans for varying levels of injuries.

Other sources report lower figures, stating that one person died and around 11 were injured. No independent confirmation from Algerian authorities has been published.

What is clear is that the structural failure occurred in a packed section of the upper tier, which triggered a panic as fans rushed into lower stands. Social media footage shows supporters falling over collapsing barriers amid chaotic scenes.

The trophy presentation was reportedly postponed amid the emergency response, and MC Alger players and staff were seen supporting victims—including reportedly donating blood at local hospitals. Algeria’s president and other officials are said to have offered condolences, and an investigation has been announced for stadium safety measures .
