KAMPALA, UGANDA – Police in Kampala have confirmed that four children were killed in a violent attack at a nursery school, with a suspect now in custody as investigations continue.
The incident occurred at the Ggaba Early Childhood Development Program in Makindye Division, where a man reportedly gained access to the premises before attacking children with a sharp object. Authorities say the suspect allegedly posed as a parent to enter the school, briefly interacting with staff before carrying out the assault. Police have not yet confirmed a motive.
Uganda Police described the victims as juveniles, with local reports indicating the deceased include one girl and three boys.
The attack triggered panic and anger within the community, with residents attempting to confront the suspect before police intervened and dispersed the crowd.
Officials say investigations are ongoing, including a review of how the attacker was able to access the school and whether security protocols were followed.
