Kenya Revenue Authority Reports Significant Tax Revenue Jump to $19.9 Billion

Kenya’s revenue authority recorded a significant increase in tax revenues for the financial year ending June 30, collecting $19.9 billion. The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) announced on Thursday that the collection represents a 6.8 percent rise from the previous year.
The $19.9 billion (equivalent to 2.57 trillion Kenyan shillings) marks a notable achievement in the nation’s revenue collection efforts. Commissioner General Humphrey Wattanga stated that the KRA successfully surpassed its target for the 2024/2025 fiscal year, achieving a performance rate of 100.6 percent.
The revenue authority attributed the strong performance to the resilience of taxpayers and strategic measures implemented by the KRA. These efforts included enhanced compliance initiatives and the deployment of technology such as the Electronic Tax Invoice Management System (eTIMS).
Sectors including agriculture, forestry and fishing, financial and insurance activities, transportation and storage, and real estate were highlighted as key contributors to the overall revenue growth. The KRA emphasized that the positive results were secured despite ongoing economic challenges.
