Sudan Ambassador Confirms Evacuation Plan for Nationals in Iran, No Injuries Reported

PORT SUDAN – Sudan’s Ambassador to Iran, Abdel Aziz Hassan Salih, has announced that the embassy has initiated an evacuation plan for Sudanese nationals residing in Iran amidst the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran. According to the official Sudan News Agency (SUNA), Ambassador Salih confirmed that there have been no injuries reported among Sudanese citizens in the ongoing hostilities.
The evacuation order came directly from Sudanese Prime Minister Kamil Idris, who reportedly spoke by phone with Ambassador Salih on Friday, June 13, 2025. Prime Minister Idris directed the ambassador to “attend to the Sudanese community, assess their conditions, and work on the safe evacuation of all nationals in coordination with the relevant authorities.” The Prime Minister was also reassured of the well-being of the diplomatic mission’s staff and the broader Sudanese community in Iran.
This move follows Sudan’s Foreign Ministry’s condemnation of the Israeli attacks on Iran as “unjust aggression that poses a serious threat to international peace and security” on Friday, June 13, calling on the United Nations and the Security Council to intervene. Sudan and Iran had only recently resumed diplomatic relations in October 2023 after an eight-year rupture, a rapprochement that has seen growing cooperation between the two nations, particularly as Sudan grapples with its internal conflict.
The decision to evacuate underscores the growing regional concern over the direct exchange of missile and drone attacks between Israel and Iran, which has already led to dozens of casualties and significant destruction in both countries.
