Tunisia: Five National Guard Officers Killed in Tragic Sfax Traffic Accident

Five Tunisian National Guard officers were killed in a traffic accident on Thursday morning in the eastern province of Sfax. The fatal incident occurred at approximately 2:45 a.m. local time on the road linking the town of Skhira, when two light vehicles collided head-on, according to an official statement from the National Guard.
Initial investigations indicate that all five officers died at the scene of the crash. One of the vehicles involved was transporting four National Guard officers, while the other was a private car driven by a fifth officer.
Authorities have launched a formal inquiry into the exact cause and circumstances of the tragic accident. The Skhira National Guard Traffic Center, part of the Mahres National Guard Region, has taken over the investigation, with necessary legal inspections and technical investigations currently underway. The Public Prosecutor’s Office of Sfax 2 has also been notified and has ordered the required legal actions.
The General Directorate of the National Guard has expressed deep sorrow over this loss, extending sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims and their colleagues.
