Washington, D.C. — A humanoid robot joined U.S. First Lady Melania Trump on Wednesday at the White House during the second day of the “Fostering the Future Together Global Coalition Summit,” an event focusing on technology, education and children’s well‑being.
The sleek, black‑and‑white robot walked alongside Mrs. Trump down a red‑carpeted hallway before they entered the White House East Room, where she was hosting world leaders and spouses of heads of state from more than 40 countries. At one point the robot moved among summit participants, scanning the room and appearing to engage with the audience.
Officials said the appearance was meant to highlight the potential role of artificial intelligence and advanced robotics in education. During her remarks, Mrs. Trump spoke about a future vision in which humanoid AI could play a part in personalized learning, helping children access a wide range of subjects tailored to their pace and needs.
Reuters reported the robot is part of a broader push by the first lady to spotlight how AI technologies can support teaching and learning, aligning with the summit’s theme of empowering children through innovation. The summit also brings together education ministers, technology leaders, and advocates to discuss strategies for integrating AI responsibly in schools worldwide.
While the robot’s presence drew significant public and media attention — with cameras capturing its movements beside the first lady — organizers emphasized the symbolic nature of the moment as part of broader discussions on preparing future generations for the evolving technological landscape.
