Air Raid Sirens Sound Across Israel; IDF Confirms Iranian Missile Barrage

Air-raid sirens have sounded across central and northern Israel this morning as the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that Iran has launched a new wave of ballistic missiles toward Israeli territory. The IDF reports that approximately 20 missiles were fired from Iran, and that Israel’s multi-tiered air-defense systems—Iron Dome, David’s Sling, and Arrow—are actively intercepting the incoming projectiles.
The IDF released a press statement urging civilians to seek shelter in protected zones as interceptions occur and warning that the security situation remains volatile. Explosions have been reported near Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, though precise casualty figures are not yet available .
This marks Iran’s first direct missile assault on Israel since the U.S. and Israel conducted coordinated strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities over the weekend. Sirens also blared earlier today in Haifa, Rishon LeZion, and Nes Ziona. The IDF has increased its national threat level, mobilizing reserves and preparing for further escalation .
Regional airlines have rerouted flights away from Israeli air space in response to the sirens and ongoing military tensions.
This situation remains highly dynamic. We’ll continue to monitor official statements from the IDF and updates from global news agencies for further developments.
