Standards

Editorial Code & Ethics

Adopted by the newsroom, enforced by the Managing Editor and reviewed annually. Breaches are investigated and sanctioned up to dismissal.

01

Accuracy First

We verify before we publish. Every factual claim needs at least one primary source; contested claims need two independent sources. If we can't verify it, we don't publish it — or we clearly label what is unconfirmed.

02

Independence

No bribes, no brown envelopes, no paid news presented as journalism. Gifts over token value are declined or donated. Advertisers never influence editorial decisions.

03

Fairness & Right of Reply

Subjects of critical coverage are given a meaningful opportunity to respond before publication, with reasonable deadlines. Responses are published fairly and prominently.

04

Harm Minimisation

We weigh the public interest against potential harm — especially for children, survivors of violence, and vulnerable sources. We anonymise where safety demands it.

05

Transparency

We disclose conflicts of interest, correct errors openly and promptly, and distinguish clearly between news, analysis, opinion and sponsored content.

06

Source Protection

We protect confidential sources to the full extent of the law. Digital security training is mandatory for all newsroom staff.
