Senegalese coach Aliou Cissé has been appointed to FIFA’s Technical Study Group (TSG) for the 2025 Club World Cup, making him the sole African coach on the panel. The group will provide tactical analysis and insights throughout the tournament, which runs from June 14 to July 13 in the United States.

The TSG is led by FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development, Arsène Wenger, and includes well-known football figures such as Esteban Cambiasso (Argentina), Tobin Heath (USA), Jürgen Klinsmann (Germany), Roberto Martínez (Spain), Gilberto Silva (Brazil), and Pascal Zuberbühler (Switzerland).

Cissé, who led Senegal to victory at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, expressed pride in representing Africa on the panel. He said the appointment reflects football’s global nature and the growing influence of African coaching.

The group will observe all matches, identify tactical trends, and select award winners like Player of the Tournament and Fair Play Award. Their findings will support coaching education globally through the FIFA Training Centre.
