CHANGSHA & JINING, China – Vice President Jeremiah Koung has embarked on a significant visit to China, leading a Liberian delegation to inspect and verify the quality of heavy machinery as Liberia anticipates the acquisition of 285 “yellow machines” for national development. His engagements have focused on ensuring value for money and fostering international partnerships.

The Vice President’s tour began today at the Sany Heavy Machinery Factory in Changsha City. During his discussions with Sany executives, VP Koung underscored the Boakai-Koung administration’s commitment to delivering transformative initiatives for Liberia and stressed the importance of securing equipment that offers genuine value for the nation’s investment.

Following the factory visit, Vice President Koung and his delegation traveled to Jining City in Shandong Province via a two-hour flight. Upon their arrival at Jining City airport, they received a warm welcome from the President and top executives of Shantui Construction Machinery Company LTD. Conversations with the Shantui team highlighted Liberia’s strong interest in collaborative opportunities, with Shantui executives expressing their eagerness to establish a productive, mutually beneficial partnership. Shantui is renowned for its specialization in the assembly of bulldozers, alongside advanced research and development in electronic automated machinery manufacturing.

Concluding his visits to the Shantui factories, Vice President Koung was honored at a banquet hosted by the Municipal Government of Jining City at the Sheng Du Hotel. These diplomatic engagements aim to further strengthen international cooperation and showcase Liberia’s dedication to global partnerships.

Accompanying Vice President Koung on this crucial mission are several key Liberian officials, including Minister of Public Works Roland Giddings, Executive Director of the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC) Bodger Scott Johnson, Deputy Director for Operations at the General Services Agency (GSA) Robert Wilson, and Assistant Minister for Budget at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning Sarah Mulbah.
